Bodegas Luis Alegre started in 1968 from the passion of a winegrowing family and is located in Laguardia, one of the most exclusive areas of wine elaboration in Spain.

Since its origin, our philosophy has been working to get the highest quality. We work with a firm objective: to elaborate wines with personality. To do it, we combine evolution and tradition, optimizing and even reinventing what already exists, always respecting the tradition and the wine heritage. This fusion made us being pioneers at the use of the selection table. All of our grapes are hand selected.

Under the wing of the Sierra de Cantabria Mountains, in Rioja Alavesa, our vineyards are formed by limestone soils with sandy inserts, and saline and ferric influences so it gives our wines a high quality.

Luis Alegre Reserva is elaborated from grapes that come from state own vineyards with an average age of 45 years and exclusively controlled by the technical team of Bodegas Luis Alegre. After a rigorous pruning and, and if necessary a thinning in the summer, we limit the yield on these vineyards to 4,800 kg per hectare in order to obtain a perfect balance of anthocyanins, tannins and other polyphenols.

AROMA:
Aromas of ripe black fruit with integrated fine oak, with nuances of violets, jasmine, cloves, pepper & vanilla. Secondary complex aromas of high roast coffee, toffee, menthol, earthy scrub land & leather

PALATE:
Powerful yet elegant, very well structured with depth where the same black fruit characteristics are evident as on the nose, enhanced by chocolate, toffee & coffee flavours. It has a very long silky finish and a long cellar ageing potential

+ Grapes sourced from The Portiles centenarian single vineyard slope, found in the defined “Golden Mile” of Rioja Alavesa.
+ Meticulous Micro-vinification with use of indigenous yeast, in 500 to 600 litre barrels called Bocoyes with absolute control of all the elaboration parameters.
+ Aged in new French barrells, that are specially selected after innumerable tests, 2 Radoux blend, Demptos & Berthomieu, for almost 20 months.
