Love of the land and of good wine have always been part of the Tombacco family. It’s like a genetic trait that’s passed on through generations…

Since my grandfather Batista, born in 1899, decided to turn his dream into reality and become an agricultural entrepreneur. He had come back from the front as poor as when he’d left, so much so that, at the moment of asking for the hand in marriage of the girl who was to become my grandmother, he had nothing to offer but his cap. However, he never gave up: with tenacity, stubbornness and a little ingenuousness, he managed to scrape together, bit by bit, the necessary money to set up his business.

The choice of land, the careful cultivation of the vines and the processing of the grapes in order to obtain results of a superior quality meant that the company which had started small grew quickly, then grew larger and larger, eventually becoming known throughout Italy and then also abroad.

KNOW THIS WINE BETTER

A vine varietal originating from an area situated between Alsace (Pinot Gris) and Germany (Rulander). In Italy it is especially cultivated in the Provinces of Treviso and Venice, where it has become widespread in winemaking and now boasts a new world-famous presentation style. Grapes are harvested when perfect ripeness balance is reached.

The bunches are taken to the cellar, where they are de-stemmed and crushed, and then placed in a pneumatic press where must is separated from the skin and, once cool, left to decant. 24-36 hours later, clarified must fermentation is triggered with temperature 16-18°C. Temperature is lowered to around 8-10°C when alcoholic fermentation is over in order to preserve the aromatic part.

Deep yellow, with strong bright green reflections

AROMA:
Intense perfume, altogether warm and fresh, with pleasant sensations of fresh toasted hazelnut. A set of young olfactory perceptions, contemporaneously fresh, ripe and evolved

PALATE:
The first sensations are of a warm embrace followed by a pleasant sour note. The wine becomes long and perfectly persistent, with pleasant fresh notes aftertaste

KNOW THIS WINE BETTER

The fresh harvested grapes are crushed, de-stemmed, placed in presses, adding Vitamin C to prevent the oxidation of aromatic substances and dyes. As soon as the must is cooled down to 12° C and statically decanted, the alcoholic fermentation of the clear must begins by using selected yeasts. Once completed this latter phase, the wine is cooled down to 8° C and 6-8 days later the first transfer can be done. Until bottled, Falanghina Piantaferro is kept at controlled temperature.

Suitable for seafood appetizers, pasta dishes with crustaceans sauces, molluscs and vegetables, mussels, fish soups, grilled razor clams, grilled or baked fish. Also combines well with white meats with aromatic seasonings.

COLOUR:
To the eye, a nice level of froth is apparent, a good tone of yellow with delicate notes of green is noticeable. Brilliant and lively in the glass.

AROMA:
To the nose, the impact is elegant, delicate, fragrant, clear notes of orange, apricot, peach and rose are perceived.

PALATE:
Excellent introduction highlighted by the carefully balanced perlage which incorporates the sensations of sweetness, acidity and salinity.

Brings highly balanced sweet, acid, and salty sensations, introduced by a delicate refined peach, apricot, and rose nose.

Once the grape has reached peak and balanced maturity, harvesting can begin. The grapes delivered to the winery, are separated from the stems and pressed, the must being separated from the skins during this process. The cooled must is then decanted and filtered then stored at 0-2°C.

Excellent matched with dried cakes, jam, fresh fruit or dry pastries. Also very nice drank on it’s own.

KNOW THIS WINE BETTER

A classic Venetian aperitif, ideal with all meatbased starters, sausages, seafood salad and fish and shellfish pasta and rice courses. Perfect with white meats, grilled, boiled or fried fish.

Selected and healthy grapes; winemaking in 4 days in steel tanks. After the alcoholic fermentation, it is put into pressurised vats at a controlled temperature for the secondary fermentation. The wine is then filtered and decanted before being bottled.
