For generations, ever since Francisco Hinojosa arrived on these lands more than 60 years ago, we have cultivated grapes to produce high-quality wines, but it wasn’t until this century that the dream of all these generations became a reality. Bodega La Azul was founded in 2003, but the tradition of vine growing has been in our veins since our grandparents arrived in the Uco Valley and understood that this stony soil could produce excellent fruit.
Today, when the valley is brimming with trellises and state-of-the-art machinery, it’s hard to imagine that time when there was nothing but stones and sand, and a dry riverbed in winter. It’s hard to imagine that they arrived and had to experiment with crops: fields, olive trees, walnut trees… grapevines. Thanks to this tradition we have inherited, we can now say that we are fortunate enough to produce our own grapes, a fundamental aspect of producing good wine.
