In April 1923, the founder of our winery, Vicente Garrido, presented the harvest of 1922.
Vicente taught his son, Eduardo Garrido, to make fine wines in Rioja…and now, Amelia Garrido, his granddaughter, alongside with his father, carry on the tradition of the family after a third generation.
Ábalos… La Rioja Alta
The Eduardo Garrido Winery is in the village of Abalos of La Rioja Alta region of Northern Spain and enjoys more than five hundred years of viticulture history.
600 mt. altitude
Abalos rests at the base of the Sierra Cantabria mountains at 600 meters above sea level, in a highly unique geographic locale of the Rioja Alta.
Micro-climate
Our region is blessed by winds of the Cantabria Sea that create an ideal microclimate for our grapes.
The Land
The calcium-rich clay soils that dominate the region, helps produce some of the best wine-growing conditions in the entire Rioja region. Thus, our wines are consistently elegant, fruity and of strong bouquets.
